  • Mobile Local Search for Your Business

by Dan DeRoeck on October 8, 2010

Did you know Google has reported that 20% of all searches are geo-targeted or have local intent? Considering Google is the largest (by far) search engine that handles up to 3 billion searches per day, makes this figure although not surprising, still astonishing.

Now, take a look at this fact.  According to Morgan Stanley, the number of mobile users will exceed desktop Internet users in 2014!

    Mobil Users

Obviously this number is going to be skewed by the sheer number of Generation Y users.  But nevertheless, when the time comes that mobile phones will be accessing the Internet more than your home computer, you best start thinking now about how that will affect your business.

Now, couple the fact that 20% of all searches are done for a specific service or product in cities and towns just like yours and most of those searches will occur from your mobile device.  It probably makes you think of the change we will see in just a few years doesn’t it?

So how can you harness some of this massive searching? There are a number of things including making your website search friendly, submitting your business to Google Places, making your website mobile friendly and more.
